Contouring your body

At the Plastic Surgery Center of Fairfield, Dr. Sofer employs new, cutting edge, reliable technologies in all surgeries.  Liposuction is one of the most popular plastic surgery procedures preformed today. Despite good health and a reasonable level of fitness, some people may still experience disproportioned body contours due to localized fat deposits. These areas may be due to heredity rather than a lack of weight control. Body Contouring with liposuction is an ideal solution to reduce unwanted fatty deposits and offer the shape you desire.

What is Body Jet Liposculture?

Dr. Sofer uses the new, gentle Body Jet Liposculture system, also known as Water Jet Assisted Liposuction. This system uses a small, fan-shaped water jet that is channeled directly into fat tissue. As a result, fat is loosened and fat structures are more easily and gently released and removed simultaneously. The infiltration fluid carries an analgesic and vasoconstrictor for pain and bleeding control.

Body Jet Liposuction is an effective fat removal procedure, without trauma, allowing doctors to assess body area for proper contouring without the obstruction of swelling and bruising typically associated with traditional liposuction, allowing for more desired results.

Advantages of Body Jet Liposculture:

  • Minimal damage and trauma to surrounding tissue
  • Reduced pain, swelling and bruising
  • Reduced operating and recovery time
  • Less anesthesia needed, procedure can be preformed in office comfortably.
  • Easily performed while patient is awake
  • Smoother results

How Does Body Jet Work?

With Body Jet, Dr. Sofer simultaneously introduces gentle pulses of fluid into the body while dislodging and removing fat through a small tube. In essence, Body Jet is designed to aid in loosening fat using a unique pulsating fluid spray that separates fat from other tissue effectively with minimal trauma to other internal structures. Body Jet also removes fluids as quickly as the fluids are introduced, thereby reducing swelling and bruising that could potentially cause prolonged healing and pain.

Liposculture process includes:

  • Infiltration – Small slightly pressurized fan-shaped jet anesthetizes tissues.
  • Irrigation and aspiration- Cannula gently loosens and removes fat simultaneously while functional tissues are spared as a continues process.
  • Aspiration of fluid, Body-Jet Result: Undesired fat is gone, functional structures remain intact.

How is Body Jet different from Traditional Liposculture?

  • Body Jet uses saline fluids to gently dislodge fat
  • Brute force is no longer necessary to dislodge fat for removal
  • No lengthy pre-infiltration phase required, reducing surgical time
  • Better anatomical assessment due to less bruising
  • Minimal bruising, swelling, pain and recovery for patient

Liposculture techniques may be used to reduce localized fat deposits of the:

  • Thighs
  • Hips and buttocks
  • Abdomen and waist
  • Upper arms
  • Back
  • Inner knee
  • Chest area
  • Cheeks, chin and neck
  • Calves and ankles

In some cases, Liposculture is performed alone, or can be coupled with other plastic surgery procedures such as a facelift, breast reduction or tummy tuck.
