Dr. Sofer is certified by both the American Board of Plastic Surgery and the American Board of General Surgery. His passion is to listen closely to your wishes and concerns and to deliver the best possible outcomes safely and skillfully.

In private practice since 2002, Dr. Sofer is the recipient of multiple awards, including the Castle Connelly Top Doctor Award and Consumers’ Research Council of America’s Top Plastic Surgeons Award. He is also a Realself Hall of Fame Inductee—an honor that recognizes board-certified aesthetic doctors for their high patient ratings and commitment to consumer education. Dr. Sofer currently performs over 1,025 cosmetic surgeries per year in Miami, New York, and Connecticut, focusing on body contouring procedures, including liposuction, 360 liposuction, breast augmentation, tummy tucks, Brazilian butt lifts, and breast, arm, and thigh lifts. In addition, he offers the BodybySofer makeover (aka Mommy Makeover)—which combines breast surgery and body contouring for the ultimate body overhaul—and specializes in breast augmentation for transgender patients.

Dr. Sofer graduated with honors from Columbia University. He then received his medical training at Albany Medical College, completing residencies in general surgery at New York Medical College in Westchester, NY, and in trauma surgery at St. Vincent Medical Center in Bridgeport, CT.  He went on to complete two highly competitive fellowships: the first in plastic and reconstructive surgery at the Medical University of South Carolina, in Charleston, SC; the second in hand and microvascular surgery at the prestigious Kleinert Institute for Hand and Microvascular Surgery in Louisville, KY, where the first successful hand transplant in the world was achieved. It was during this time, while performing innovative and life-altering surgery—including replantation and reattachment of fingers and hands—that Dr. Sofer perfected his surgical craft and honed his ability to perform each procedure with utmost precision and attention to detail.

Since 2015 Dr. Sofer has been a participant in Operation Smile, an organization that invites surgeons to perform cleft surgery on children with cleft conditions worldwide. Dr. Sofer is thrilled to be a part of this international community of medical professionals and takes pride in providing relief to those in need.

Dr. Sofer has served as the chief of Plastic Surgery at St Vincent’s Medical Center and is an active member of the prestigious American Society of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons (ASPS).  At ASPS, he had the privilege of serving on the Patient Safety committee, contributing to safety guidelines in the field of plastic surgery, and on the Membership Committee, where he contributed to the determination of ethical standards for ASPS members. Dr Sofer is also a member of the American College of Surgeons, the American Medical Association, the Surgical Society of New York Medical College, the Connecticut Medical Society, and the Fairfield County Medical Society
