Chemical Peels

Chemical Peels

A chemical peel uses a chemical solution to smooth the texture of your skin by removing the damaged outer layers.

Although chemical peels are used primarily on the face, they can also be used to improve the skin on your neck and hands.

A chemical peel is a less-invasive way to improve the appearance of your skin. Sun exposure, acne or just getting older can leave your skin tone uneven, wrinkled, spotted or scarred.

A chemical peel can help improve:

  • Acne or acne scars
  • Age and liver spots
  • Fine lines and wrinkles
  • Freckles
  • Irregular skin pigmentation
  • Rough skin and scaly patches
  • Scars
  • Sun-damaged skin
  • Melasma
  • Photodamage

Chemical Peel Treatment Regimen and Care Instructions

We offer a customized skin analysis based on the Visia complexion analysis system. The treatment options will be discussed prior to each peel. At the Plastic Surgery Center of Fairfield we offer the following peels:

  • SkinCeuticals Superficial MicroPeels (Pigment Balancing, Micro 30 Glycolic, Micro 20 Glyolic and Micro Sensitive)
  • The Replenix Intermediate 10 Peel

Each is peel is slightly different in its chemical components and action . Some are milder than others. Some peels will show no visible shedding, while others may represent a “snake shedding its skin”. The peel that is right for will be chosen after your consultation and skin anaylsis.  After a chemical peel, skin is temporarily more sensitive to the sun, so it is recommended to wear sunscreen every day. It should say “broad-spectrum” on the label, meaning it protects against the sun’s UVA and UVB rays. Limit your time in the sun, especially between the hours of 10 a.m. and 2 p.m., and wear a wide-brimmed hat. Remember that after correcting skin with chemical peels it is of great importance to follow through maintaining the outcome with good skincare products.

SkinCeuticals peels are an advanced skin rejuvenation requiring a session of 4-6 peels, one peel every 2-4 weeks.(Each patient receives a custom treatment schedule based on skin analysis)

There are many treatments available for treating skin pigmentation. During your consultation with our skincare nurse, you will be evaluated with our advanced VISIA® complexion analysis imaging. This will allow us to see the deeper layer of skin and help us determine what treatments would work best for your skin. The consultation is about 30 minutes and we will then recommend the best skin care treatment to target pigmentation and give your skin a youthful, healthy glow.
