BOTOX® Cosmetic & Dysport®
Dr. Alfred Sofer offers BOTOX Cosmetic and Dysport injections in Fairfield, CT, for the treatment of dynamic wrinkles. These products are made from botulinum toxin type A — a purified substance derived from bacteria. Injections of BOTOX and Dysport weaken the affected muscle so it cannot contract, which diminishes unwanted facial wrinkles. BOTOX has been FDA approved for frown lines and crow’s feet, and can also be used off-label for forehead lines and skin bands on the neck. BOTOX and Dysport can both be used for vertical lip lines, bunny lines on the nose, a gummy smile, and more.
Your treatment is always performed by a trained professional in our state-of-the-art facility. Request your consultation online or call (203) 336-9862 to schedule your appointment. BOTOX vs. Dysport: What’s the Difference?
BOTOX and Dysport are 2 well known types of botulinum toxin type A, and both are very popular med spa treatment options at Plastic Surgery Center of Fairfield.
There does not appear to be a major advantage of one over the other. BOTOX is made by Allergan, and Dysport is made by Medicis Pharmaceuticals. BOTOX was approved by the FDA in 2002; Dysport gained FDA approval in 2009. BOTOX has the larger market share in the United States while Dysport is increasing its market share in Europe and South America.
From Dr. Sofer’s perspective, patient preference is the determining factor.
BOTOX and Dysport take 3 to 10 days to take effect and last 3 to 6 months, although not all patients respond the same way to treatment. Some patients may require more units than others to see desired results. For this reason, we price treatments per area, and patients are able to return for a complimentary touch-up within 2 weeks.
- BOTOX: $259/area (frown lines, forehead, crow’s feet)
- Dysport: $229/area (frown lines, forehead, crow’s feet)
Superior Safety at Plastic Surgery Center of Fairfield
Because medical spas not properly trained in providing cosmetic medical care have produced multiple complications, the state of Connecticut has established a new law requiring the presence of a medical doctor during treatment. The name and specialty areas of any physician performing cosmetic medical procedures must be displayed in an obvious place that is accessible to patients, as well as on any website maintained by the medical spa. The purpose of this law is for you to be more informed and for you to have answers to the following questions:
- What is the training of the provider performing your procedure?
- What is the backup in the event of complication?
- Do they have hospital privileges in the event of complications?
Rest assured that our practice adheres to Connecticut law, and that in the rare event of complications, we are fully prepared to handle any situation that may arise.
