Skin Tightening Q & A

What is J-Plasma skin tightening?

Renuvion® or J-Plasma is a non-surgical, minimally invasive skin tightening treatment. The J-Plasma device Dr. Sofer uses works by releasing pro helium gas and radiofrequency to create a precise beam of plasma or heat energy.

It’s safe to use on any area of the body, including the face and neck, and produces natural, younger-looking skin. The results are immediate and can last for up to 10 years.

Dr. Sofer uses J-Plasma to achieve exceptional results with little to no scarring.

How does J-Plasma skin tightening work?

Dr. Sofer makes a small insertion just under the skin to create an entry point for the J-Plasma device. When the device is in place, he turns it on, and it emits plasma energy. The plasma energy heats the skin, which causes it to contract. At the same time, excess helium gas cools the treatment area. The two energies work together to tighten the tissues under the skin.

J-Plasma skin tightening is a precise skin treatment. Dr. Sofer can target areas to achieve optimal results.

What areas of the body can skin tightening treat?

If you have significant weight loss or a loss of firmness from aging, you may find yourself with a lot of lax skin. Skin tightening firms drooping skin in the following areas:

  • Upper arms
  • Breasts
  • Stomach
  • Abdomen
  • Hips
  • Thighs

Dr. Sofer discusses your skin concerns to get a better understanding of what you hope for from the treatment. He may recommend surgical procedures like arm or thigh lifts if J-Plasma isn’t a good fit for you.

What is the healing process for skin tightening?

The procedure itself is relatively pain-free, but your skin needs around 2-3 weeks to heal. Try to spend the first 10 days at home to protect your skin from bright daylight and for any sensitivity to cold weather to wear off. Redness, minor swelling, itching, and peeling, while uncommon, are perfectly normal side-effects as your skin heals.

Dr. Sofer runs through everything you need to know about the skin tightening procedure. In the days following your treatment, his office follows up with you to answer questions you may have about your recovery process.
